Legendagem: O longo caminho para o reconhecimento acadêmico

A tradução audiovisual esteve ausente dos intercâmbios acadêmicos em tradução até o início dos anos 2000. Focando especificamente na legendagem, este artigo contempla inicialmente as razões por trás desse problema. Em seguida, apresentamos um relato detalhado das pesquisas realizadas nesse campo, tanto na Espanha quanto fora dela até o início do século XX. Após uma visão panorâmica sobre os tópicos, números, publicações e conferências que tiveram um impacto na legendagem, trazemos possíveis caminhos de pesquisa. Embora o futuro pareça muito promissor para esse campo de pesquisa, destacamos alguns desafios para o futuro.
