Cristina Fernández Cubas, born in 1945 in Arenys de Mar, Barcelona, is a Spanish writer and journalist. Fernández Cubas has been translated into over ten languages and is recognized as one of the most honored and renowned authors of her country. Her mastery in writing short stories has earned her widespread recognition, although her literary talent also extends to novels, children’s literature, plays, biographies, and memoirs. The author has held a prominent position in the Spanish literary scene since the publication of her first book, Mi hermana Elba (1980). She is well-known for her role in revitalizing short narratives and her distinctive ability to evoke fear through her profound explorations of human nature.
