Dans les œuvres postcoloniales de la littérature portugaise, le substrat vernaculaire constitue un élément clé au sein d’un dispositif fictionnel marqué par son caractère hybride. Caderno de Memórias Coloniais, roman autobiographique écrit par Isabela Figueiredo et publié au Portugal en 2015, met en scène un poignant témoignage des temps coloniaux, fondé sur l’entrelacement du point de vue de la fille blanche au Mozambique et de la vision critique de la femme adulte au Portugal sur ce passé douloureux. Dans les traductions du Caderno de Memórias Coloniais, la manière dont s’opère ce reframing culturel est un élément déterminant pour la matérialisation du sens de l’œuvre, dans la mesure où celui-ci dévoile de multiples stratégies paratextuelles visant à transposer cette réalité africaine omniprésente dans la trame. En nous appuyant sur un corpus composé de deux traductions en espagnol et d’une traduction française du livre de Figueiredo, nous commenterons les variations linguistiques et les différents choix des traducteurs ·trices vis-à-vis de ce substrat vernaculaire, dans le but de mettre en valeur la nature à la fois engagée et collective du geste traductif.
