Translation Studies. Criticism and translation. Julio Cortázar.Abstract
This essay was presented by critic, professor and translator Patricia Willson at the International Colloquium on Hispanic Translation held in Bariloche, Argentina, in November 2010. She explores possible relationships between criticism and literary translation based on the specific case of the translation of Recit secret, by Pierre Drieu La Rochelle, by Julio Cortázar. One of the author's questions will be whether the opposition between the conceptions of the writer-translator and the author of the original is reflected in the translation. Her method consists of approaching the interventions of the author and the translator in their respective literary spaces and then examining the aesthetic-ideological relationships between them. Afterwards, she analyzes aspects of the translation itself and ends by discussing the relationships between criticism, commentary, translation and creation.
