The present paper aims to discuss the main advances caused by the purchase of the Scholar Feeding National Program (PNAE), using as reference the experience of emergency acquisition of family farming agroecology-based products of Rio Grande do Norte (RN), during COVID-19 pandemics. By means of bibliographical search about public policies of government purchases of family farming and data collected along with State Secretariat of Rural Development and Family Farming (SEDRAF-RN) and the Secretariat of Culture, Sports and Leisure (SEEC) the article brings as result the purchase of more than 300 tons of agroecological products and the distribution of 215 thousand kits in 600 schools of the state system. The public policies of incentive to family farming contribute to the appreciation of family producers and agroecological products, showing that a new paradigm centered on sustainable development is possible.
