The "Honey Flowers" project is an agroecological rural extension work that sought to develop knowledge on the production of ornamental plants for small farmers from Capivari-Monos APA and surrounding areas. Two lines of training were developed: production of ornamental plants, and gardening and landscaping. 13 farmers were benefited. Issues of environmental awareness, soil maintenance and green manure were worked; visit cycles were performed for initial diagnosis, planning, monitoring and evaluation. 120 species were identified for ornamental production, and 59 of them were native to the region. Workshops on plant propagation and on regional native species were done. Small greenhouses with bamboo structure were built for protected cultivation, and garden beds were structured for species grown under sunlight. The participants designed and built gardens in their properties. The results include a higher awareness level of the importance of environmental services, as well as the importance of the production chain development using native ornamental plants.
