A diagnosis was made of the conservation status of two trails of the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park (NPCG), Mato Grosso, Brazil, by means of an adaptation of the method Visitor Impact Management (VIM). Intended to contribute to the systematic monitoring of impacts on these existing trails, considered strategic for the protected area. The indicators of impact (erosion, enlargement, root exposure, footpath, trash, tree damage and shortcut) were quantified and georeferenced. The record of the indicators was systematized through a geographic information system (GIS). Both trails presented two indicators with a higher incidence (root exposure and tree damage). There was no statistical difference to point out a trail with higher priority to recovery of other (χ2= 6.4, df = 5, p = 0.27). It is necessary to develop and implement an emergency plan to maintain these trails. Later this activity should include the management plan of the protected area.
