O perfil do professor profissional: as cinco competências

Abstract

This article gives a brief explanation about the professionalization of teaching and intends to show how necessary it is for a language teacher that one keeps on the lookout for the importance of becoming a professional teacher, aware of his real role in the world. For such a task it is indispensable to be always improving his competences, taking part in congresses, colloquiums, continuing education courses and other goings on in his area, and always willing to make some self-evaluation. We also address the issue of entry into the labor market, and the different skills that may be required from the candidate to teach in different contexts and institutions.
