Sustainability of production systems of family agricultural labourers for cheese in Nossa Senhora da Glória, Brazilian Semiarid region of Sergipe

The farms in the municipality of Nossa Senhora da Glória in the semiarid region of Sergipe are characterized by familiar agriculture where the dairy activity predominates, with the manufacturing of cheese associated with swine production and the other animals. Bibliographical surveys, participative observations and interviews were conducted in the farms to analyze the sustainability of production systems. After data systematization, analysis and information discussion the sustainability was evaluated by their social, environmental, political-institutional and economic dimensions, represented by a biogram. The production systems showed low social indicator for housing and education, low environmental indicator, due to the swine dejections on environmental and use of firewood, low political-institutional indicators were observed in view their organizational weakness, deficient assistance and technical difficulty to access to financial, and low economic indicator because of marketing irregular of homemade cheese, however, intergenerational and diversity indicatores were high
