The present study aimed to identify the bee species visiting the flowers of Jatropha curcas and the pollination potential of these species in a region of the bahian semi-arid, Brazil. The study was conducted during three blooming periods of Jatropha curcas, during which bees were observed and collected. A total of 520 individuals from 12 species were captured: Apis mellifera, Cephalotrigona sp., Frieseomelitta sp., Melipona quadrifasciata, Schwarziana quadripunctata, Trigona spinipes, Augochlora sp., Augochloropsis spp. The most abundant species was A. mellifera, and it was the only one considered constant and dominant. Cephalotrigona sp. and T. spinipes were the second and third most abundant species, respectively, and were classified as accessory and non-dominant. It can be concluded that A. mellifera is an effective pollinator of Jatropha curcas under the evaluated conditions.
