Abstract

The purpose of this article is to delineate the dialogue between social sciences and sociophysics, as it is being currently done. Through the discussions of ontological politics (MOL, 2007), I will try to understand how the area of sociophysics – a discipline of the field of physics, which strives to encompass physical studies and social phenomena – performs the understanding of a given social phenomenon, the dynamics of opinion in this case. I shall draw a parallel with the social studies, in order to verify the different performativities. The methodology used was participatory observation, interview and bibliographical review of the field. I perceived that the dialogue between the fields of social sciences and physics is presently precarious.
