This paper aims at presenting the christian appropriation intertwined with the mythical complex of the four ages. The book of Daniel proposes the historical division into four great ages: the Babylonian, Medes, Persian and Greek; however, the christians appropriate this myth and insert Rome as one of the last worlwide monarchies, by means to demonstrate both its perversity and atrocity and the portrait of chaos and destruction. Certain contemporary cristhians authors to the Roman kingdom as Jerome support Rome as one of the lasts worldwide monarchies in the world, in order to display its connection with the parousia and justify the persecution suffered by the christians in the first centuries of its existence. This would be an evidence of the Roman government’s actions being seen as the embodiment of human perversity. So, this paper displays the christians’ appropriation of the book of Daniel, mainly chapters 2 and 7, which was written in a very discrepant social context in order to give foundation to the great second coming of Christ and insert Rome as the cruelest and most redoutable monarchy, the Antichrist portrait.
