Abstract
Celebrating CCRU’s thirtieth anniversary, this paper aims to present and introduce some of the concepts taken from the doctoral thesis of Mark Fisher, who is one of the most famous contributors of the Cybernetic Culture Research Unit. Thereof, we intend to explore here Flatline Constructs: Gothic Materialism and Cybernetic Theory Fiction (1999), making an overview of the possibilities opened by Mark Fisher in his thesis for interpreting post-modernity and its promiscuity between the technical world and the Human. We do this, mainly, stemming from his concepts such as Gothic Materialism, flatlines and cybernetic theory-fiction, finally clearing the terrain in order to think on Mark Fisher’s doctoral thesis as a theory-fiction of cruelty
