: This article concerns the last work during the lifetime of sociologist and literary critic Pascale Casanova (1959–2018), La langue mondiale: Traduction et domination, which was published in 2015 in France and which I translated in 2021 under the title A Língua Mundial: Tradução e Dominação [The World Language: Translation and Domination]. Therefore, I intend to discuss here the theoretical reflections of Pascale Casanova based on my translation of the work A língua mundial: tradução e dominação, beginning with the relevance and importance of translating Pascale Casanova, reflections that are supported not only by the text itself but also by the paratext and accompanying discourse. I will then highlight Pascale Casanova’s original thinking through the main concepts discussed in the work, such as bilingualism and the atheistic stance. Finally, I will emphasize the impact of this Brazilian translation.
