FEMINICIDES OF INDIGENOUS WOMEN FROM AN INTERSECTIONAL PERSPECTIVE: analysis of a collaborative documentation with organized Nahua women in Zongolica, Veracruz

Abstract

In the Zongolica region of Veracruz, the memories of the recent violence are crossed by the silence and terror generated by a series of murders of women whose bodies were thrown on the roads that connect the communities and of which very little is known. One of the main objectives of the work we carry out with organized women is to work on these memories and the narratives in which current manifestations of gender violence are intertwined with other forms of violence in their territories and with a range of accumulated forms of violence, that define not only the patterns of extreme violence, but also its treatment in the official instances of justice and in the communities. Through the analysis of some cases we documented, I analyze the way in which extreme violence against indigenous women breaks the boundaries between the public and the private, between the intimate and the structural, and is located in the frameworks of accumulated violence in their bodies and territories. My interest is to subscribe to a theoretical and methodological reflection of documentation to understand the extreme violence that affects indigenous women, from perspectives that point to the intersection of forms of violence and that go beyond the interpersonal sense and the sex-generic condition, and from approaches that allow a more contextualized and historically and politically situated views.
