Abstract

In the present work, we seek to situate the Marxian problematic of commodity-form fetishism in the contemporary context of capitalism. Our proposal is to claim, on the one hand, the thesis according to which it is of the very nature of the commodity form to manifest on the surface of everyday relations the personification of things and the reification of people. On the other hand, we want to point out that, currently, the expansion of the mercantile exchange relations reproduces the recrudescence of the fetishism inscribed in this inversion, increasing the submission of people to the imperatives of the commodity form of the product of human labor. In conclusion, we intend to address the possible economic and political tendencies open to Brazil, regarding the refutation of technological innovations structured in the name of the so-called fourth industrial revolution or industry 4.0.
