Explorando bibliotecas multiculturales e indígenas: un análisis de estudios relevantes

Este artículo presenta parte de los resultados de una investigación doctoral que examinó el comportamiento informacional de los pueblos indígenas, teniendo como uno de sus objetivos la identificación de bibliotecas que intervienen en la atención y preservación cultural de estas comunidades. El análisis reúne experiencias y prácticas de bibliotecas multiculturales e indígenas en diferentes contextos geográficos —Australia, Canadá, Estados Unidos, Sudáfrica, Nigeria y Brasil—, destacando el papel de estas instituciones como espacios de preservación cultural, inclusión social y promoción de la justicia informacional. El estudio se basó en una revisión bibliográfica realizada en bases de datos nacionales e internacionales, complementada con búsquedas en Google Académico. Los resultados evidencian avances significativos, como la creación de bibliotecas comunitarias y digitales orientadas a las especificidades culturales y lingüísticas, pero también señalan desafíos persistentes, tales como limitaciones de financiamiento, desigualdad en el acceso tecnológico y ausencia de políticas públicas integrales. La investigación enfatiza la importancia de la participación comunitaria y de la integración del conocimiento indígena en las prácticas bibliotecológica.
