WOMEN IN POLITICS IN ANGOLA

Abstract

This text aims to understand the political participation of women in Angolan society. Thus, it brings brief subsidies for the participation of women in politics, corresponding to the period of anti-colonial and current struggle, more precisely until the year 2017, this because of the theoretical approach of Pereira (2008), Fila and Lopes (2018) and Domingos (2018), which synthesizing these authors, women are less in this area. In this sense, the text demonstrates the dynamics of how this
process took place, mentioning events perpetuated by women that allowed the emergence of actions, by local and international institutions aiming to appeal to the respect of women’s rights and their active insertion in society. On the other hand, it discusses some social factors that have made women’s political engagement unfeasible, as well as the inequalities suffered by women in rural areas. However, the reflection focuses on the description of how it is occurring, the said engagement and the relevance of this process in Angola.
