SOCIOLOGY IN BRAZIL: SOME POINTS FOR REFLEXION
Keywords:
.Abstract
The article retraces the history of Brazilian Sociology and proposes a line of analysis of its present situation. Indicating its strengths and weaknesses, the author suggests that the main problems of sociology in Brazil are not internal to the discipline, but rather represent responses to external factors of economic, social and political order. On the other hand, the development of this discipline in Brazil in the last two decades despite those external factors points to its present strengths and its potential.
