Primary health care workers pharmacist in Porto Alegre and the coronavirus pandemic

The Brazilian Health System (BHS) workers experience the implications of the current world of work configuration, based on the flexibilization of labor rights and work overload, a context aggravated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which brings particular implications for the category of pharmacists. This research aims to analyze the work configuration of pharmacists in Primary Care in Porto Alegre during the coronavirus pandemic. The research is qualitative with a descriptive - exploratory purpose, conducted through interviews collected from pharmacists from District Pharmacies in the municipality, interpreted through the content analysis of Pagés in the theoretical perspective of historical-dialectic materialism. The analysis resulted in the dominant themes: (1) The work of the Pharmacist in Primary Care, (2) Working conditions of the Pharmacist in the District Pharmacies, (3) Precariousness of work in the District Pharmacies and (4) The work of the pharmacist in the District Pharmacies during the coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic showed the pharmacists the potential of its work in the BHS, in particular, in the practice of health education, and, at the same time, that better working conditions are needed to qualify professional practice.
