Abstract
Abstract: This article presents a master's and a doctoral research on the practices and actions of contemporary cultural institutions in São Paulo, which articulate the concepts of diversity and representativeness, understood in their policies of identity and affirmation of differences. Seeking to contextualize the transformations that provided the opening of "formal institutions" to the knowledge of historically subordinated groups, the projects seek to discuss some cases, such as the Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo and the Casa do Povo, as well as problematize ideas of contemporary thinkers on institutions, arts and culture in the face of demands from different social groups.
