Abstract

In this text, we propose to consider the connection between the creation of new expressive territories and the mastery of temporal aspects linked to performance practices. This association is thus presented under a kinesthetic approach (Ponty, 1999). We adopt rhythm as an articulating element between creativity and expressivity. In this way, the proposals of Dalcroze (1916, 1925) and Gramani (1999) were taken as the theoretical basis of this study. We started questioning why put the body into play to talk about rhythm? Following, we exemplify how we carry out the transposition for theater classes of exercises devised for rhythmic training by Gramani. The perceptions and responses manifested by the students were analyzed in order to understand how a sort of process occurs in which the body movement becomes movement of thought (movement of meaning), so becoming body and space at the same time.
