The article presents the contribution of Biagio Pelacani of
Parma (1347-1416), philosopher, astrologer and mathematician of 16th
century to the History of Psychological Ideas. Biagio, a very famous
professor of the most prestigious Italian universities of that time, wrote
many treatises, such as a comment on the Aristotelic treatise "De Anima"
(1385) and "Quaestiones de Optica" (1390). The interest ot these two
texts for the History of Psychological Ideas lies on the fact that the author
proposes a view of man and a sketch of Psychology inspired on a
materialistic racionalism based on an astrological deterministic
conception. According to this approach Psychology is considered as a
part of the Natural Philosophy and not of Ethics or Theology.
