New Normal in Liquid Modernity: A Vision of Tomorrow Present

Abstract

Considering recent history a historical period, we should be concerned with the construction of theory within the context of the discipline. Present situations are fundamental to understand this period, attributing to them the perspectives of making a comparison between historical periods, ranging from macro-history to micro-history. This article discusses the new normal of recent history due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has spread all over the world, but at the same time is still like other pandemics that have occurred previously, thus establishing a new pattern of social interaction. It is considered that the pandemic has triggered a new historical period, characterized by liquid modernity, reconfiguring existing social relations based on a logic of biopower attributed to the virus itself.
