Abstract

This article aims to define the conceptions of sociology and consequently the role while social science it has or should have in the social world, according to the thought of Max Weber and Émile Durkheim; exposing both differences and similarities between the two authors. Also the logical consequences that can emerge from their conceptions, with their virtues and weaknesses will be discussed. The purpose is to search, from these two classic authors, a better comprehension of the roles that Sociology may or may not play in society.
