ForewordAbstract
In 1960, Juscelino Kubitschek founded Brasilia and, soon thereafter, the University of Brasilia, then headed by Darcy Ribeiro, came into being. Twenty-six years later, during the Cristovam Buarque’s tenure as rector of the university, the Centre for Advanced Multidisciplinary Studies (Ceam) first began its works, under the leadership of its first director, Nielsen de Paula Pires. From then onwards, the history of Brasília and the history of the Ceam have been intertwined.
This commemorative issue of the Ceam Journal celebrates the 60th anniversary of the foundation of Brasilia, as an anticipation of the 35th anniversary of the Centre for Advanced Multidisciplinary Studies in 2021. The contributions contained herein either tell a bit of the history of Ceam and the city that has so gladly hosted it since its creation or they’re contributions by members of the centre.
