Esquerdas latino-americanas: uma tipologia é possível?
Abstract
Esse artigo compara a trajetória de forças políticas de esquerda que chegaram ao poder na América Latina Contemporânea. Num período de crise de paradigmas para as esquerdas e de hegemonia neoliberal, essas forças conseguiram colocar-se como alternativas de governo, aonde chegaram por meios democráticos. Tal ascensão, por sua relativa sincronia e delimitação regional, constitui um processo que pode ser compreendido em conjunto. O objetivo do artigo, partindo da análise de fatores como estrutura organizativa, ideologia, relação com a democracia e com o neoliberalismo, é discutir a viabilidade de tipologias que começam a ganhar espaço na literatura especializada. Sobretudo as que defendem a existência dicotômica de “duas esquerdas”, uma “democrática” e outra “populista” ou “autoritária”.
