Abstract

We will consider the relation, still not well known, between Søren Kierkegaard (1813-1855) and Friedrich von Hardenberg (Novalis) (1772-1801). The goal of this paper is to think the horizon of religion as a philosophical problem. The hypothesis to be argued here is that the Danish thinker was acquainted with the German philosopher’s reflection and, to some extent, dealt with it. Sometimes he adopted similar ideas, and sometimes he thought in an opposite direction. The paper is not only a contribution in studies on the relationship between Kierkegaard and Novalis, but it also approaches a common background regarding philosophy of religion, as it goes through both thinkers’ discussions on the role of the sacred in practical experience. Regarding von Hardenberg, the contribution is both in the aforementioned sense and in a methodological sense, as it features texts still not much approached in his works, i.e. his texts on religion written between 1788-1790, along with some of his letters and diaries.

Doutor em Filosofia pela UFMG (2020). Mestre em Filosofia pela UFMG (2015), Licenciado em Filosofia pelo Centro Universitário Internacional UNINTER (2019) e Bacharel em Psicologia pela UFMG (2010). Professor Assistente 1 e pesquisador na Faculdade Jesuíta de Filosofia e Teologia (FAJE). Professor Colaborador credenciado no POSDEFIL da UFOP. Trabalha especialmente com Friedrich W. J. von Schelling (filosofia da natureza, gênio, pintura e mímesis), Friedrich von Hardenberg [Novalis] (panenteísmo, filosofia da natureza, poesia e sincriticismo), Immanuel Kant (gênio, postulados da razão prática pura, teleologia), Vittorio Hösle (estética, idealismo objetivo, natureza), Henrique Cláudio de Lima Vaz (Filosofia da natureza, categoria de objetividade, interpretação de Immanuel Kant). Traduziu as seguintes obras filosóficas do alemão para o português: 'Dedução geral do processo dinâmico' (1800), de F. W. J. Schelling; 'Filosofia da crise ecológica: conferências moscovitas' (1991), de Vittorio Hösle. É membro dos grupos de pesquisa Mito e Modernidade, da FALE-UFMG, e Edição da obra filosófica de Henrique de Lima Vaz, da FAJE.

Doutor em filosofia pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (2021). Possui mestrado em Filosofia pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (2015) e bacharelado em filosofia pela mesma instituição (2011). Possui também licenciatura em filosofia pela faculdade Claretiano (2019). Se interessa pelos seguintes temas: Kierkegaard, ética, Romantismo alemão, filosofia da literatura, filosofia da religião e niilismo.
