Why open-access to collection?

Abstract

This article discusses the question of the open-access to collections emphasizing the role of the Academic Library in user education, and providing facilities for study and research purposes. It also deals with the vandalism in academic library which is sometimes considered a reason for closing access to collections. The theft and mutilation may be reduced by taking some specific measures and by regular evaluation of the whole process.
