Abstract

Presents the results of a joint effort, made by the entire faculty, to redesign the under-graduate program offered by Department of Information Science of the University of Brasilia, Brazil, in 1996-1997. A review of the pertinent literature was conducted, international in scope but emphasizing Brazilian authors; this was followed by a probing of the local market through the invitation of a panel of judges, external to the University and representing the local professional and employers, who helped m setting directions. The main points of the resulting proposal, now implemented in that School, are presented.
