Abstract

The present work has as its object the work “Introduction to the philosophy of art”, by Benedito Nunes (4th ed.) – a work that presents an overview of the philosophy of Art, by considering authors from different historical times, as well as more properly authorial contributions. This is critical review, whose goal is to provide analysis of formal aspects, content and scope of the work. The results here presented also furnish considerations on specific issues raised by the text, especially the excessive historical emphasis on Philosophy of Art, given by the author; with the contrast between historical and current facets of Art, as a philosophical theme and as a cultural manifestation.
