The work On suicide addresses the position of women in 17 th century France, showing the main triggers for the topic: religion, moral and submission, aspects which still influence such an act nowadays. To think about suicide now (using Jacques Peuchet and Karl Marx as coauthor) opens space to ask why, 200 years later, society has yet to find a solution for this problem, and how the State (including its citizens) has influence on suicide as it avoids discussions on this matter and delegitimizes the cases. Furthermore, it is indispensable to recognize depression as a public health issue that needs constant monitoring. A possible way to overcome this problem could be, therefore, to recognize depression as a pathology and to try to reduce the frequency of cases.
