Call for Papers for the Dossier on Endangered Languages – Volume 18, 2026
Articles, reviews, translations, field reports, vocabularies, grammatical drafts, and other works will be accepted for the Dossier. The Dossier proposal should primarily, but not exclusively, focus on languages with a high degree of threat of extinction, and languages in vulnerable situations, such as those spoken by indigenous peoples. Data on recently contacted, discontinued languages that have remaining speakers, and/or unpublished data on the last speakers of a language are also welcome. The works published in the dossier should contribute to the linguistic and sociolinguistic knowledge of the state of the art of these languages, their documentation, and their applicability to programs and projects aimed at strengthening the linguistic and cultural heritage of indigenous peoples whose languages are threatened with weakening of their use or even extinction. They should also contribute to discussions on language policies and planning in support of the lives and memory of Brazil's indigenous languages. This initiative aligns with the objectives and goals of the Decade of Indigenous Languages (UNESCO 2022-2032).
