Ecolinguistics. Discourse Analysis. Prejudice. Devastation.Abstract
The objective of this essay is to show how Ecolinguistics and Discourse Analysis could collaborate with one another. Once the latter is widely known, I present only the former, which is defined as the study of the relationships between language and environment. Among the topics pertaining to it that have affinities with DA, I discuss prejudicious language, the discourse of polluters who intend to sell themselves as environment- friendly, as well as the subject development. Besides the impact it has onature, I try to show that the term “development” contains in itself the idea of something undesirable at long term. The prefix “de- and its equi- valents in European languages, has to do with concepts such as “destroy”. My conclusion is that a collaboration between the two disciplines would be very proficuous.Downloads
