Política indigenista governamental no território dos Waimiri-Atroari e pesquisas etnográficas

Examino o papel de pesquisas etnográficas com sociedades indígenas em situações norteadas pela implantação de grandes projetos de desenvolvimento regional, a partir da minha própria experiência com os Waimiri-Atroari. Abordo o papel do pesquisador, refletindo sobre como essas pesquisas podem contribuir para a redefinição da política indigenista governamental através de leituras indigenistas dos seus resultados por parte dos funcionários administrativos. Na segunda parte do trabalho, chamo atenção à necessidade de tomar em consideração o fato de que tanto as interpretações daqueles índios que têm voz, quanto as dos antropólogos, refletem a sua posição dentro de um contexto maior de diferenciais de poder.
