Inferno, de Patrícia Melo:
gênero e representação
Abstract
Tomando como suporte teórico os pressupostos do feminismo crítico, o presente artigo se propõe a analisar o modo de representação das relações de gênero no romance Inferno (2000), da escritora brasileira Patrícia Melo. Numa espécie de diálogo com as formulações de teóricas do feminismo contemporâneo, como Judith Butler e Elizabeth Badinter, a escritora põe em cena personagens femininas que se declaram e agem como mulheres-sujeito, tomando por superadas a objetificação e a outremização advindas da milenar opressão da mulher instaurada com o patriarcalismo. Nesse sentido, trata-se de um texto que assinala uma nova fase na tradição literária brasileira de autoria feminina no Brasil, já que a produção literária de mulheres que se desenvolveu entre nós no século XX é profundamente marcada por enredos que giram em torno relações de gênero, de tal modo que a mulher é sempre retratada como oprimida e vitimizada.
