Figurations of the epic (anti-)hero in “Tô ouvindo alguém me chamar”, by Racionais MC’s, and “Isso aqui é uma guerra”, by Facção Central

The article analyzes the representation of the hero in songs by two Brazilian rap groups: “Tô ouvindo alguém me chamar”, by Racionais MC's (a track from the 1997 album Sobrevivendo no inferno), and “Isso aqui é uma guerra” from the group Facção Central (track from the album Versos sangrentos, 1999). As a basis for my argument, I use the model of epic hero conceived by Masaki Mori. Nevertheless, I consider that the figuration of the protagonists in these songs turns them into anti-heroes, insofar as the narrative has the political purpose of denunciation.
