Abstract

Baumgarten called veritas aestheticologica what
was in accordance with the pious, the decorous, the
honest, that is, the aesthetic served to propagate, to
auratize what the dominant group understood to be
in accordance with its paradigm. This varies, however,
according to the place, the time, the social group.
Beauty does not only auratize beliefs, conventions,
customs. It is not just the right one. Beauty came to
be seen as an expression of truth, but the very concept
of truth proved to be false, it ceased to be what
was in accordance with the divine mind. Large works
operate basic tensions, one pole activates the other,
causing them to expand their scope.
