The following essay is an attempt to think about the concepts of precariousness and framing, as developed by the American philosopher Judith Butler, applied to the idea of love. We start from the way heterosexuality, as a political regime, is able to determine the conditions and mechanisms of recognition and intelligibility of love under the dictates of its binary logic, to think about how it is socially molded and tensioned. The Taiwanese film Your Name Engraved Herein and its context will be used as a way to present these ideas in a more concrete language. We end with a nod to the possibility of haunted love offering other paths than those narrowed by straight love.
