SUASSUNA'S AESTHETICS

Abstract

This article is the result of the dissertation work The case of the fiddle and the violin: the armorial music carried out in the PPG of History of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE). We seek here to shed light on the philosophical aesthetic thinking of the writer and theatologist Ariano Suassuna, a central figure in the popular artistic manifestation of northeastern culture, which was held while he was a professor of aesthetics at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco. We will develop here the perspective of a traditionalist and realistic aesthetic, as defined by the author, and we will demonstrate its intellectual, aesthetic and cultural implications as well as some contradictions arising from Suassuna's reflections.
