ART AND TRUTH IN ARCHITECTURE: A REFLECTION FROM THE PRESERVATIONIST PERSPECTIVE

Abstract

Considering the Symposium's purpose as beingthe discussion of the correlation between the evidence of philosophical absence and the evidence of aesthetics absence in contemporary productions, taking as reference the relationship between art and truth, this paper intends to analyze art and truth having as foundation the cultural heritage point of view. If the major theoretical problem of the cultural heritage, after the Modern Movement's architecture and urbanism expression recognition, is the authenticity of monuments and sites, this text defends the idea that the cultural heritage practice demands, from the act of designing, a philosophical presence that approaches it to the aesthetic evidence, even if this approximation is less than it should be.
