Abstract

Science has varied meanings, just as the interpretations given to its progressive nature are varied. In its evolution, a detail that draws attention is the conceptual approach of the disciplines. We maintain that this approximation is a vestige that they have a common origin, which favors their objects being visualized according to analogous (but not reductionist!) models of the systemic type. Geography has been a discipline that uses explanatory models – of a mathematical, physical and biological nature – since the fifties of the last century. And even though today's geographers no longer consider the relevance of New Geography, we understand that it is this school that has driven the stakes so that the acceptance of the most contemporary systemic concepts was possible.
