APPLICATIONS OF THE ELECTRONIC FORUM IN THE RESEARCH NETWORK OF "BRAZILIAN ROCKS AS ALTERNATIVE POTASSIUM SOURCES"

The paper presents the experience with the use of a Bulletin Board System (BBS) for the Research Network of “Brazilian Rocks as Alternative Sources of Potassium for Agriculture”. It’s described the BBS creation, its implementation and the difficulties observed along this processes. The advantages and disadvantages of this technology are listed. The paper concludes that BBS is a useful Information Management tool to support the research teams. The conception was based on the needs of an asynchronous mean of communication that could be used as an organized pool of data and information. It was used the phpBB® software. The most significant difficulty was to convince the researchers to enroll the BBS.
