A representação sintática do aspecto perfect: uma análise a partir de advérbios do português brasileiro
Keywords:
perfect, representação sintática, ordenamento verbo/advérbio, cartografiaAbstract
The perfect aspect refers to a time interval which relates two points in the timeline, and can be divided in universal (UP) and existential (EP). According to Nespoli (2018), they are dissociated in the syntactic representation, that is, they correspond to different phrases in the inflectional layer. This work aims to investigate the hierarchy of the UP and EP phrases through the ordering of verbs in relation to the adverbs “still”, which conveys UP, and “already”, which conveys EP, in Brazilian Portuguese. The hypothesis of this work is that UP phrase dominates EP phrase in the representation of the inflectional layer. Spontaneous speech data were analyzed and an ordering of sentences test was developed and applied to native speakers of Brazilian Portuguese in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The results indicated that, both in the conveying of UP and EP, most of the occurrences contains the verb placed to the right of the adverb. Thus, it was not possible to make considerations regarding the refutation or not of the hypothesis. Still, it was demonstrated that the methodology employed in this research proves to be adequate to the understanding of the investigated phenomenon, and a further expansion is required to reach the goals proposed here.
