Roberto Schwarz stands out as one of the most relevant names in literary studies in Brazil and is one of the main marxist thinkers in the world today. However, his work as a literary author is still little studied and perhaps even little known. The objective of this article is to analyze his most recent production in the literary field, the play Rainha Lira, published in 2022, in order to try to understand how his artistic composition strategy is constructed. Starting from the point of view of materialist and dialectical criticism, the aim is to demonstrate that the work is structured by a dynamic of contradiction from which the elements that comprise it are in constant tension, which makes possible a poetic configuration capable of representing the social form of the reality of a country inserted in the periphery of capitalism.
