Abstract

"A hora e vez de Augusto Matraga", by Guimarães Rosa, has been ever since its release one o f the most acclaimed narratives o f Sagarana (1946). Rinaldo de Fernandes, in "Sariema", a short story o f the book O perfume de Roberta (Rio de Janeiro: Garamond 2005), recreates the famous literary piece by that distinguished Brazilian author. In it, Rinaldo succeeds in making significant changes, at the same time that he preserves the meaning of the original work.
