Texto: A coletânea de contos The Bloody Chamber and other stories, publicado pela primeira vez em 1979, foi uma das obras mais significativas da escritora britânica Angela Carter (1940-1992), ganhando o prêmio do Festival de Literatura de Cheltenham nesse mesmo ano. A obra teve um grande clamor entre os leitores e os críticos, de forma que o conto The Company of Wolves, que compõe a referida obra, foi adaptado para o cinema. The Company of Wolves, embora baseado na história de chapeuzinho vermelho, se afasta da narrativa dos contos de fadas, ao relacionar os temas virgindade, puberdade e desejos sexuais por meio de uma protagonista que, de certo modo, vai de encontro aos padrões patriarcais da época.
