The article addresses the wonderful Latin American realism genre in relation to other forms of literature that also address the unusual, such as the classic fantastic, the strange and the fantasy. To this end, it proposes a reflection on the modern imaginary, of European origin, and its valorization of rationality; with the objective of understanding with him, he would have articulated, or not, with such literary genres. Finally, the article seeks to demonstrate that the wonderful realism genre is both related to the regional imagination of the different Latin American locations and also participates in the construction of a subjectivity in which reality is not credible and is not considered as a concrete fact.
