Abstract

In this beginning of the XXI century, the growth of new technologies imposes a questioning of the relation between photography, truth and memory that the theories of the 1960s and 1980s supposed as inherent to the photographic documentation. From the discussion of a public controversy about photojournalism in Mexico in 2004, this essay proposes to rethink the new photography from a constructive practice, the social imaginary one.
