This field note presents the results of the exploratory field work conducted as part of the course “Territorial Approaches for Urban-Rural and Heritage Studies in Latin America”, led by Dr. Everaldo Batista da Costa, from University of Brasilia, Brazil. Through a walk in the Aurelio Ortega-Atemajac Linear Park, the operational categories “socio-spatial inequality” and “socio-territorial equity” were analyzed, supported by theories on the “used territory” and “possible urban planning”. The fieldwork, which involved 23 participants, revealed the complexity of socio-territorial interactions in an area undergoing urban renewal, identifying the gaps resulting from proposals based on rational urban planning, which normally ignores the different profiles of individuals and groups that use the territory, such as women, older adults, people with disabilities, and vendors.
